Adobe Buildings
Adobe buildings in the southwest offered the least expensive and most permanent, sturdy homes and courtyard walls to early settlers and shopkeepers through the 1930s. Many have now collapsed from rain dissolving the mud based walls. Minerals and weathering constantly update the patina, and the moving sun and shadows extract new colors from the adobe through the seasons. My paintings are inspired by the Chimayo artist Matthew Higgenbotham.
